The Guide To Long Lasting Makeup

Sorry we haven't been posting very regularly on the blog at the moment, we've had mock exams everyday for the past two weeks, so it has been hectic! Our last exam is tomorrow (French listening) so towards the end of this month there should be more blogposts up. Today we're going to be talking about summer appropriate makeup that won't slide off of your face throughout the day (seriously this happened everyday last summer!) I've found some real gems this past year that I can't wait to share with you.

NIVEA MEN POST SHAVE BALM

This 'primer' has been floating around the blogging world for a few months now, and it is definitely worth the hype. It is quite a thin, watery consistency that goes tacky once applied to the skin. It contains glycerin as the main ingredient, which is what makeup brands use in primers. This primer clings onto your makeup, whilst still feeling incredibly lightweight, and just doesn't let your makeup slide off your face! The best part? It is only £3.

MAX FACTOR FACEFINITY POWDER

I've been using this full coverage powder ever since I started wearing makeup, after seeing my mum use it (its a firm favourite in our family!) It comes in a compact with a surprisingly high quality sponge and blends effortlessly into the skin without looking cakey whatsoever.

BENEFIT GOOF PROOF BROW PENCIL

Benefit recently launched their spanking new brow collection all dressed up in shiny silver packaging - featuring both renovated products and new, innovative ideas. In July's edition of ELLE, you can receive their new Goof Proof Brow Pencil (which is incredibly similar to the full size - only missing a spoolie!) I'm not sure whether each shade is different in the magazine, but I received shade 2 which is a perfect shade for my brows (luckily!)

It really is goof prood - it takes me two minutes to do my brows now, maybe even less..! The pencil has a diagonal slant which makes it very easy to draw on hairs with precision. Furthermore, it is very pigmented! Benefit claims this product is waterproof, I haven't tested this but I know for sure it stays on without budging for a heck of a long time!

URBAN DECAY NAKED PALETTE

My holy grail palette. The pigmentation and longevity in these warm-toned shadows are insane. Seriously - your eyeshadow will look perfect all day long, all night long, if you wear this. Sure, it is quite pricey at £38, but completely worth it in my opinion. No other eyeshadows I own compare, not even MAC.

MAYBELLINE LASH SENSATIONAL WATERPROOF MASCARA

As you might know if you read our 5 Things In May post, my grandma recently passed away and at the start of June I attended the funeral. I bought this, which I owned last summer, for the funeral because it is waterproof and no joke: it didn't move. It stayed exactly the same. You can go swimming in this mascara and it will look perfect! (although it is infuriatingly difficult to take off at the end of the day!)

RIMMEL 1000 KISSES LIP LINER '011 SPICE'

I only own a couple of lip liners (the other being another from rimmel, a red shade) and this is one I wear almost every time I wear lipstick - it looks great with Mac's Kinda Sexy. I always notice a difference when I wear this with my lip products, it makes my makeup last so much longer. The shade is a dark beige with pink undertones.

What are your essentials when you need your makeup to last all day long?

  1. I have the rimmel lipliner and I love it! The colour is so nice and they are so affordable too. I really want to try the naked palette, the pigmentation on them is just incredible so I'm trying really hard to save up for it!

  7. I've been so curious about that Nivea balm but haven't gotten around to trying it out. Waterproof mascara is such a game changer! I don't even bother wearing mascara if it isn't waterproof lol.

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother's passing :( Sorry for your loss

  10. I still haven't decided how I feel about the post shave balm! I feel it definitely makes foundation go on much smoother and last longer but I also feel like it blocks my pores really badly!
