Summer Drugstore Makeup

The sun is coming a lot more here in Britain, although recently it has been incredibly humid & muggy, which hasn't been all that fun to be honest. And today, ten minutes ago it was raining cats and dogs and now sunbeams are shining through the windows. Summer is always unpredictable in England! Today we have put together products to make a summer-appropriate makeup look, and they're all incredibly affordable! Hope you enjoy reading xo

Starting off with the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer, which has a silicone texture perfect for oily/combination skin. The Revlon ColourStay Foundation for Oily/Combination Skin is my favourite, go-to foundation because it has a beautiful, medium coverage satin finish. To cover up any remaining imperfections, the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer is holy grail for many due to its phenomenal coverage (and price!). To make sure your makeup stays in place all day, powder with the MaxFactor Facefinity Powder Compact.

The Maybelline Master Contour V-Shape Stick is a product I reviewed more in depth in this post. Using the contour side, draw a small line under the cheekbones and blend out with a brush for an easy, lightweight cream contour. If you can't bronze in summer, when can you? The bottom left shade in the Makeup Revolution Contour Palette (review here) is perfect with a light hand and duo fibre brush. For a radiant, glowy highlight, take the bottom left shade on the Sleek Precious Metals Highlighting Palette (review here) and blend with your finger on the tops of your cheekbones. Then, to add colour to the cheeks, apply the Sleek Blush in Rose Gold with a light hand for a glowy, golden look.

The Makeup Revolution Iconic 2 Palette is a beautiful palette which I use all the time, I've actually hit pan on the first shade. Every colour in this palette is perfect for summer, but I must point out shades 2, 3 and 4 specifically for this look. For mascara, the Maybelline Lash Sensational Luscious Macara is good (however it can be a bit clumpy!). Apply the Freedom Brow Pomade in Ash Brown for put together brows.

And finally, the perfect high street summer lipstick is L'Oreal Color Riche Lipstick in Julianne's Nude. It is a gorgeous, creamy peach pink encased in gold and matte black packaging.

What are your high street favourites for summer?

  5. Such great picks! MUR is one of my favourite brands of all time, it's so affordable! I have to agree on the weather situation here in England, it doesn't make it easy chosing whether or not to attempt to add some luminous glow to your face if its 32 degrees out. I've been wanting to pick up the Rose gold blush rom Sleek for ages but it's always sold out whenever I go! (Probably best though as I definitely don't need more blushers) xx
