Inside my MAC Quad

I've mentioned my MAC eyeshadows a handful of times here on the blog, but never have I dedicated a whole post to reviewing them. I have four, so that they fit nicely into one of MAC's quad palettes. MAC eyeshadows are a real mixed bag so here are mini reviews of the four I have, including swatches.

RETROSPECK
Where is the pigmentation?? This light gold sparkly eyeshadow has next to no pigmentation when dry, which is so disappointing considering the £10 price tag. When dampened, Retrospeck does give a lot more pigmentation but its a lot of hassle to dampen it everytime I want to wear it so Retrospeck doesn't get much use.

OMEGA
Omega is a light matte brown that, again, doesn't have much pigmentation in comparison to the likes of Urban Decay and Freedom. However it isn't bad at all and makes a great transition shade for a cool toned eye. It creates the perfect shadow.

JEST
I love Jest, its a light pink eyeshadow with frosted, almost icy, shimmer. The frosted finish makes it so perfect for the winter months, its literally all I wear. The pigmentation is similar to Omega in the fact that its okay but not great when compared to other brands.

ALL THAT GLITTERS
The star of the show, ATG is so pigmented and actually one of my favourite eyeshadows in my collection. For some reason, MAC are really inconsistent with the pigmentation of their eyeshadows, I mean ATG is so good and I wonder why MAC can't achieve that with other colours. Anyway, this shade is a rose gold colour with satin shimmer and everyone needs it.

Retrospeck (wet), Omega (wet), Jest, All That Glitters

What MAC eyeshadows do you recommend?

  1. All That Glitters was one of my very first MAC eyeshadows, I love it for an every day look. I normally use Retrospeck above other eyeshadows with a finger, that's the way that I get pigmentation :)

  3. I bought the MAC Warm Neutrals palette so I think I have some of these shades. All That Glitters and Omega are gorgeous, great post! I don't think MAC shadows are that pigmented so I always use them on top of a base and really pack it on with a flat brush xxx

  4. It sucks that retrospekt has such poor pigmentation :( If you're paying that much for a shadow you would think it would work without much work. All that glitters looks and sounds like such a lovely shade! It would look so pretty all over the lid :)
